Een nieuw jaar begint altijd met goede voornemens. Bij Bobtje’s Blues Pages begonnen die voornemens al veel vroeger en bij deze worden ze ook werkelijkheid. De bluesliefhebber heeft geduld moeten hebben (waarvoor dank) maar de nieuwe website kan nu gelanceerd worden, bij deze dus! U zal merken dat Bobtje’s Blues Pages sterk vereenvoudigd werd en terugkeert naar de essentie met een simpele structuur en een beter overzicht. Er wordt nog gewerkt aan de functionaliteit en gebruiksvriendelijkheid, maar we willen uw geduld niet langer op de proef stellen. Snel surfen dus naar www.bobtjeblues.com en ontdek het allemaal zelf! De oude website en blog blijven nog even beschikbaar maar we doen ons best om bepaalde archieven stilaan over te hevelen in de bestaande rubrieken, iets wat geleidelijk aan zal gebeuren. Beiden worden niet meer bijgewerkt. Voortaan ook geen gastenboek meer. Iedereen die wil reageren kan dat doen via het weblog, doen! Rest ons niet meer dan een hartig en welgemeend dankwoord aan D. Van Den Bremt die hard werkte om de nieuwe en eigentijdse CMS website tijdig klaar te krijgen, een website die ons toelaat om te doen wat we graag doen: Exploring Planet Blues!

A new year starts with good intentions. Finally, we’re able to realize our good intentions from 2007, launching our new website! It took a lot of thinking & brainstorming and all of you were patient, thanks guys! You’ll see that we returned to the basics with a simple and clear structure. We’re still working to improve functionality and a more friendly user environment, but we didn’t want to make you wait any longer. Surf to www.bobtjeblues.com and discover it for yourself! The old website & blog will be available for a while, but we’re working to integrate the archives into the new features. Both won’t be updated anymore. There won’t be a guestbook on the renewed site. You can react through our weblog, do it! Last but not least, a very big THANK YOU to D. Onvoorziene omstandigheden noopten ons helaas de lancering van onze vernieuwde BBP (website en blues blog) uit te stellen naar een latere datum. We doen ons uiterste best en we hopen dat het begin van 2008 ook het begin is van onze nieuwe webstek. Brand een kaarsje, wij kunnen dat niet want we zijn hier volop aan het werk.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have to reschedule the renovation day of our website. We try our utmost and we hope that the beginning of the new year 2008 will be the beginning of our new BBP. Please do keep your fingers crossed, we can’t because we’re working on it.

Een vernieuwde website is “under construction” op hetzelfde ogenblik dat Bobtje volop aan het verhuizen is. Een en ander zorgt voor een tijdelijke onderbreking van onze activiteiten, excuses hiervoor. Naar verwachting zal alles weer normaal verlopen vanaf einde november, begin december. Dringende boodschappen en speciale nieuwsberichten zullen gepost worden op mijn blog, in zoverre mogelijk.

A new website is under construction at the same time that Bobtje is packing his things in order to move to his new headquarters. This prevents updating our regular site, we apologize for this. U zal wel gemerkt hebben dat het wat stil is op deze blog in de jongste weken. Dat is niet wegens gebrek aan materiaal, maar heeft alles te maken met de herstructurering van ons netwerk waar hard aan gewerkt wordt achter de schermen. Voor hen die altijd op zoek zijn naar vers talent verwijzen we graag naar da Blues, de podcast die iedere week weer opnieuw met interessante namen op de proppen komt. De jongste weken werden er namen voorgesteld als Fabrice Collette, Chico’s Bail Bonds, Little Andrew, RockNRick and the Roadmasters, Debbie Ritter, Kelly’s Lot, The Chief Whips en Cold Shott & the Hurricane Horns. IODA Promonet biedt een aantal nummers aan voor download, er zijn filmpjes te zien, foto’s en alle nodige links die u toelaten om meer te leren over hen die u (misschien) nog niet kent. Gary Primich R.I.P.

Gary Primich, de bekende harmonica speler uit Austin - Texas, is net overleden op 49-jarige leeftijd. Gary was een spectaculaire artiest die op veel respect kon rekenen en beschouwd werd als een van de beste harmonica-spelers. Hij was erg graag gezien in de Austin muziek scene. Gary nam op voor Amazing Records, Antone’s, Black Top, Electro-Fi en Flying Fish. Daarnaast was hij ook gastmuzikant bij Steve James, Candye Kane, Tish Hinojosa, Omar & The Howlers, Doyle Bramhall, Nick Curran, Jesse Dayton en verscheidene anderen.

It is with great sadness that we report that harmonica great Gary Primich passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 23, 2007 in his home base of Austin, Texas. He was 49. Gary was a spectacular artist who was considered among the greatest of harmonica players. He had become a respected member of the Austin music community. Gary recorded CDs for Amazing Records, Antone’s, Black Top, Electro-Fi, and Flying Fish. Gary also appeared as a sideman on records with Steve James, Candye Kane, Tish Hinojosa, Omar & The Howlers, Doyle Bramhall, Nick Curran, Jesse Dayton, and others.

Zonet bereikte ons het nieuws van het overlijden van Ernie Payne. Ernie, een Afro-Amerikaan uit Acadia Parish - Louisiana was een liedjesschrijver die eigenlijk alles over zichzelf vertelde via de muziek die hij vertolkte, roots muziek, delta blues, contemporary folk muziek. Hij maakte zijn eerste Europese toernee in 2004 en trad op in Nederland, Frankrijk, België, Ierland en ook in de UK waar hij een opname sessie deed voor de Andy Kershaw Show. Zijn intieme stijl is te horen op de cd Coercion Street, uitgebracht door Black and Tan Records. Een indringende video clip van Ernie kan u hieronder bekijken.

We just received the news that Ernie Payne passed. Ernie, an Afro-American from Acadia Parish - Louisiana, was a songwriter who didn’t need a bio because he felt like “anything you want to know about me is in my music”. His music was roots music, delta blues, contemporary folk. He made his first tour in Europe in 2004 and performed in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Ireland and in the UK where he did a recoding session for Andy Kershaw’s Show.
