Becki Sue & her Big Rockin’ Daddies! (ja hoor, uitroepteken hoort bij de groepsnaam) kwamen al eerder aan bod bij Bobtje Blues Blog. De band kreeg onlangs maar liefst vijf “2007 Awards” van de Washington Blues Society, respectievelijk voor ‘Best Electric Blues Guitar’, ‘Best Blues Sax’, ‘Best Blues Bass’, ‘Keeping The Blues Alive’ en ‘Best Blues Band’. Dit is al het tweede opeenvolgende jaar dat de band met zoveel nominaties bedacht werd, iets wat niet zonder reden gebeurt. Een luisterbeurt naar hun cd The L.A.B. Results zal maar een deel van die redenen oplichten, de kracht van de groep ligt vooral in live optredens, iets wat ze onlangs nog bevestigden op de 2007 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Het ontlokte Don “T-Bone” Erickson van het bluesmagazine Blueswax de volgende uitspraak: “Out of all the bands that I saw at the 2007 International Blues Challenge, Becki Sue & Her Rockin’ Daddies! was the band that I enjoyed the most, I would have to say. I’d go see them anytime that I would get that chance. What a dynamite show! Very entertaining and the whole band is a smokin’ outfit. T-Boy is one bad boy on the guitar. He has an original approach to a traditional sound - gotta love it! Lotta fire, also … gotta love that, too!”
Becki Sue & her Big Rockin’ Daddies! (yes, the exclamation point is part of the band name) featured before on Bobtje Blues Blog. The band just got five 2007 Awards from the Washington Blues Society: ‘Best Electric Blues Guitar’, ‘Best Blues Sax’, ‘Best Blues Bass’, ‘Keeping The Blues Alive’ and ‘Best Blues Band’. This is the second year in a row that Becki Sue & her boys have lead in the number of nominations. Listening to their cd The L.A.B. results will tell you why, but only partly. The real power of the band is giving live performances. At the 2007 International Blues Challenge they played a couple of great sets at The Hard Rock Cafe on Beale Street and had a blast!!
